Conservation and Renewable Energy
Ontario is North America’s leader in energy conservation, renewable energy and the fight against climate change. It’s evident in the province’s plans to reduce peak electricity demand by 6,300 megawatts, one of the most ambitious plans in North America, and in the “A” grade Ontario received from the Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance in its 2008 report card. And, the province’s Green Energy Act, 2009 is evidence of Ontario’s leadership in the fight against climate change. We’re proud to be a part of this province’s legacy in creating a greener and better tomorrow for all of its citizens.
Promoting conservation and a sustainable electricity system is the primary focus of the OPA. We fulfill our role as facilitators by helping Ontarians realize their impact in the world and creating opportunities for Ontarians to get involved. We work with communities, homeowners, businesses, and institutions to engender a spirit of conservation throughout the province and to bring clean and renewable energy projects to life. We help in creating green jobs and developing and investing in green technologies. We develop best-in-class procedures for procuring and contracting cost-effective and cleaner electricity. Creating a conservation culture in Ontario and a cleaner, more sustainable electricity system will make a difference today and beyond.
The OPA wordmark and the phrase “Ontario Power Authority” are official marks owned by the Ontario Power Authority.
