Why do I need to register?
Registration allows you to protect the information you submit to ATB Financial. It also allows you to create CareerAlerts! (up to 30), save Job Searches (up to 30) and establish a Personal Job List to track jobs you are interested in and have applied for. You can also store up to 10 different versions of your résumé plus cover letters and modify them at any time.

To help ensure this information is protected, only you should know the username and password you use for this site.

Is my registration information secure?
Yes. Your use of the ATB Financial Career Site (hosted by workopolis.com) is governed by the Privacy and Confidentiality provisions on the workopolis.com site.

How do I deactivate my account?
You may delete any saved information - résumés, Job Lists or CareerAlerts! - at any time. To delete your account entirely, please click here.

Why do my username and password work on workopolis.com?
The application pages on ATB Financial are created and hosted by Workopolis. When you register with ATB Financial, you will also be registered with workopolis.com. The résumés you create and submit to ATB Financial will not be available to workopolis.com, nor to any sites associated with Workopolis or its other clients. Access to information you provide to ATB Financial is restricted to the ATB Financial recruiting team.

How do I create a résumé?
Once registered, you may create and save up to 10 different résumés. Click the Create New Résumé button in the My Résumés section to start.

How do I create a bilingual résumé?
Before saving your résumé in English, click the Français tab above the Contact Information section. This will bring up the French template. Complete the information in French and click the Sauvegarder button.

What is the best format to use for my résumé?
The best format for your résumé is Plain Text. Before you copy and paste your résumé, save it as Plain Text in your word processing document. Rich Text formats do not translate well once you submit your application.

If you wish to maintain certain formats, you may use HTML tags, however; please note that your résumé is being evaluated on content, not format. You can preview how your résumé will appear to the ATB Financial recruiter or recruiting team by logging on to My Résumés and clicking the Preview icon to the right of the résumé name.

How do I know my application has been received?
You will receive an e-mail acknowledging that ATB Financial has received your résumé. We will also notify you if our recruiting team determines your skills and background match our current hiring needs.

We ask all job applicants and staff to participate. The information you provide is strictly confidential and kept separate from all other employee records. Access to this information is limited and is only used for statistical purposes.

I have submitted my application, but now realize I made an error in the information I provided. What should I do?
You can't re-apply for the position, but you can update the information in any résumé you submitted by clicking the name of the résumé you wish to modify. Once you save the changes, the résumé you submitted will be updated.

How do I update my contact information?
Click My Résumés and log on if required. Click on the name of the résumé you wish to edit. Just under the résumé name is a bar with the words: : "Contact Information (fields marked with a * are required)". Click on the Edit button and make your changes. Don't forget to click Submit at the bottom of the page to save your changes!

How do I change my password?
To change your password, e-mail address, name, or postal code, click My Personal Info. Make any changes and click Submit Registration.

How will I know that my application has been received?
You will receive an auto-generated email reply thanking you for applying and acknowledging receipt of your application.

How do I track the status of my application?
  • Check My Job List to view the status of jobs you have applied for.
  • Click Decline if you are no longer interested in a posting you applied for, or have accepted another career opportunity.
  • Click Delete to remove a job from your list.

What is the best format to use when submitting my resume?
Upload your resume in MS Word, HTML or plain text format (using an application like Notepad) into My Resumes. You can also use our site tools to create your resumes and cover letters online.

How should I prepare for my interview?

What happens to my resume once I have applied to a posting?
Your application is automatically forwarded to the hiring manager responsible for filling the position. The hiring manager will keep you informed of your status by email throughout the selection process.

Will my application be considered for opportunities outside the job I have applied for?
Your application will be considered specifically for all jobs you apply for. You can also choose to post your resumes using My Resumes as private or shared. Private means that only hiring managers who post jobs you apply for can view your resume. Shared means that ATB recruiters can search the resume database for registered candidates that might be interested in jobs we haven't posted yet. If you share your resume and your name comes up in a recruiter job search, you can expect a personal invitation to apply.

What can I expect in terms of background checks?
ATB Financial conducts security clearance checks, credit bureau reports and occupational reference checks on all external candidates considered for appointment. You will be asked to sign a disclosure form consenting to these checks at your interview.

How does ATB select successful candidates?
ATB is an equal opportunity employer that encourages applications from all qualified candidates. Positions are staffed through a competitive process. Where both qualified internal and external applicants with relatively equal qualifications are available, preference will be given to internal candidates.

How often are new job postings added?
New postings are added on an ongoing basis. Postings are sorted by posted date with most recent appearing at the top of the list. Another way to keep on top of new postings is to create a CareerAlert!

What is Smart Search?
Smart Search searches for words that I similar to the keywords you have entered as your criteria. If you have the Smart Search box selected, a search for "professor" would also find "instructor"; a search for "programmer" would also find "developer." Smart Search uses our keyword thesaurus.

Can I apply for more than one position at a time?
You are encouraged to apply for any and all positions you are interested in. In addition, you may wish to save your resumé and mark it Public in the My Resumés section. By doing so, the entire ATB Financial recruiting community can search and find your resumé.

What happens to my résumé once I have applied?
If you are applying for a specific position, your résumé will be directed automatically to the ATB Financial recruiter responsible for filling that position. After evaluating your skills and background, the recruiter may contact you for further information or an interview. Your résumé will be maintained in the ATB Financial database and will be available only to our recruiting team.

I don't see a posted opportunity that interests me. Can I submit my résumé for future opportunities?
Yes. General applications are submitted to the general talent pool where they are available to the entire ATB Financial recruiting team.

What is the difference between Private and Public?
Mark your résumé Private if you want to submit it only to the ATB Financial recruiter responsible for filling a specific position. Mark it Public if you want to send it to the entire ATB Financial recruiting team.

What are CareerAlerts?
Enables you to get a notification when a position becomes available that meet your interests, skills and experience.

How many CareerAlerts! can I create?
You may create up to 30 separate CareerAlerts!

How long do my CareerAlerts! remain active?
Your CareerAlerts! remain active until you deactivate or delete them.

I no longer wish to receive CareerAlerts! How can I stop these messages?
You may deactivate your CareerAlerts! at any time by clicking on the Delete button in the CareerAlert! section.

Can I modify my CareerAlerts?
You may modify the CareerAlerts! section in the ATB Financial web site by clicking on the Edit button in the CareerAlerts! section.

I received a CareerAlert! but the link was broken. How do I fix it?
This error usually occurs when a URL becomes fragmented during delivery. You can tell if this has happened if the entire posting is not highlighted and underlined. To fix this, you can either cut and paste the fragmented URL into the address bar on your browser, or make the document active by clicking Reply and backspacing between the fragments until they are joined.
